Module 1 — the off-road test
Module 1 (Mod 1) is the off-road manoeuvring test, taken at a DVSA Multipurpose Test Centre. It’s a short test of your slow-speed control and bike handling before you take the on-road Module 2.
What Module 1 involves
On a marked-out area, the examiner asks you to demonstrate a set of manoeuvres, typically including:
- Wheeling the bike and using the stand
- A slalom and figure-of-eight for slow control
- A slow ride, then a U-turn
- Cornering and a controlled stop
- Cornering and the hazard-avoidance (swerve) manoeuvre at higher speed
- Cornering and an emergency stop
We rehearse every exercise with you until it feels natural — most nerves disappear once the slow control clicks.
How we prepare you
Module 1 practice is part of your Direct Access training. We coach the manoeuvres off-road first, then build speed and confidence so the test feels like just another practice run. For prices and dates, call 01925 551 555.
